Stranger & Sons was founded in 2018 by Rahul Mehra, Sakshi Saigal, and Vidur Gupta under Third Eye Distillery in Goa. It marked a turning point in Indian spirits, being among the first gins in decades to be fully crafted in India. The brand’s vision was to create a gin that not only used juniper but also reflected the country’s vibrant culture, folklore, and abundance of botanicals.

At the heart of Stranger & Sons lies a playful origin story featuring a mythical two-tailed, three-eyed creature said to have discovered juniper berries hidden in a sari. This sense of strangeness is central to the brand’s identity, while the “& Sons” element pays homage to the family-run businesses that are so characteristic of India.

The gin’s botanical profile sets it apart. Alongside juniper, the recipe includes Gondhoraj lemon, Nagpur oranges, coriander, black pepper, nutmeg, mace, angelica, cassia, and liquorice. These ingredients, sourced from across the country, lend a distinctive warmth and complexity, resulting in a spirit that evolves with every sip.

Stranger & Sons has been widely celebrated on the global stage. It won a gold-outstanding medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2020, one of only a handful of gins worldwide to achieve this distinction. Further awards at competitions in London, San Francisco, and Asia cemented its reputation as a world-class gin.

Sustainability and community are at the core of the distillery’s practices. Citrus peels are prepared by local women, with the leftover fruit made into pickles and jams, reducing waste while supporting livelihoods. The distillery also uses water-recycling systems and eco-friendly packaging.

Today, Stranger & Sons is available across India and in markets such as the UK, Singapore, and Thailand. It stands as both a modern Indian success story and a cultural ambassador, bringing the richness of India’s flavours and stories into the global gin conversation.
